Questions About Billing

Question: Why am I receiving more than one bill for the same surgery?
Answer: There are a number of separate charges associated with a surgical procedure, so you may receive bills from several other treatment providers.  The list below shows some of the possible providers who may send you a separate bill:

1. The La Veta Surgical Center
2. Your anesthesiologist
3. Your surgeon's office – his/her fee for performing your surgery.
4. Your pathologist – services for tissue specimens removed during surgery requiring further examination.
5. An extended home health care service.

Question: What type of credit cards do you accept?
Answer:
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and CareCredit.  You are welcome to visit the CareCredit website at: www.carecredit.com to pre-apply for their services prior to the date of your surgery or procedure.

Please note that anesthesia charges may not be paid by credit card.

Question: When should I expect my first bill?
Answer:
We will bill you any balance due after your insurance company has paid your claim.  There may be a delay if your insurance company has paid us incorrectly and we have re-submitted your claim for a corrected payment and allowance determination.

Question: What is included in my bill?
Answer:
We are dedicated to reducing the cost of medical care.  In fact, we do not itemize invoices since most procedures have established comprehensive charges.  You will receive separate bills from the surgery center, your surgeon, an assistant surgeon or RNFA, as well as the anesthesiologist and pathologist or radiologist (if you have x-rays or specimens are sent to the lab).  Some specialty items may also generate additional charges, such as implants.

Question: What is your credit and payment policy?
Answer:
Credit and Payment Policy
Full payment is due within 90 days of your surgery.  Elective and cosmetic surgery procedure fees must be paid in full at the time of your surgery.

We strongly encourage you to personally contact your insurance company about your upcoming surgery or procedure.  It is mandatory that you, as the insurance subscriber, confirm that all prior authorization information required by your personal policy is completed prior to your surgery date.  You may be penalized by your insurance company if you fail to follow policy guidelines, so you should make every effort to understand what your benefits cover and how this may affect your financial responsibility.

As a courtesy we will submit insurance claims for you.  We will request that your deductible and copayment amounts be paid prior to your surgery or procedure.  You will receive information from us regarding the amount to pay.

If you anticipate difficulty in paying your bill within the 90 day period please let us know immediately.
